WHAT IS MEJENGA?
“Mejenga” (pronounced meh-HEN-gah) is a Costa Rican word for a friendly match. Originally used for informal soccer games, today it can refer to almost any kind of game—sports, card games, tabletop games, video games, and more— whether played with friends or on your own.
The idea of a mejenga takes us back to neighborhood games where anyone could join, regardless of age, ethnicity, social status, fitness, or skill. The only thing that mattered was the willingness to play and have fun.
Today, that same spirit can be found anywhere people connect through play: a friendly ping-pong match, a session of Fortnite, a Magic: The Gathering tournament, or even a World Cup match.
That is the spirit behind Mejenga Studio—and the experience we want to share through both our original games and our collaborations with customers and development partners. We believe games should create fun, bring people together, and build lasting bonds. We bring that same belief to every partnership: everyone contributes, everyone is valued, and we play as one team.
